Siemens NX 2007 – New Group Enhancement!
A useful enhancement came with the last Siemens Major Release NX 2007 concerning the Group Feature.
The „New Group“ function is not a new way to create Groups, but there has been a very useful enhancement within the latest Siemens NX Major Release. In the past everything collected within this Group has not been associative and it was necessary to redefine the Group members. Not anymore! Siemens NX 2007 now allows you to combine Group with Interpart Links, meaning WAVE Links or Product Interfaces. We will show you how this works:
Use the New Group extension:
Start New Group simply by using the Search Tab. Of course the possible combination with Interpart Links introduces a wide range of possible use cases. We will focus on a common use case which a lot of you might find helpful. After starting the New Group, you can already see the enhancement. It is now possible to choose a specific Selection Rule within a dropdown. Why is that benefitial? The Selection Rule makes your selection associative. Now you can select Faces, e.g. by using the Selection Rule „Tangent Faces“. Choose a Face that will not be removed after a modification. Apply via center mouse button. Now you see that the color of the Group has changed. You can, as in previous Siemens NX versions, now right click on the Group inside the Part Navigator and – by using Edit Display – change the coloration again.
